There's plenty to cheer about in Bingley this week, where five-year-old Freya Dixon has completed six months of home isolation after undergoing a life-saving bone marrow transplant.

Freya was diagnosed with Diamond-Blackfan anaemia (DBA) when she was a baby, a condition where bone marrow fails to produce enough red blood cells.

Freya suffered from complications after the operation in September, but she is now set to start school full-time and can play with her friends once again.

The Doncaster on Stage scheme at the city's Cast theatre will share stories from the early Theatre Royal, which opened in 1776, as well as the Grand Theatre, the Palace of Varieties and the New Hippodrome in Mexborough.

Nicola Doyle, from Cast, said the money would "lay the groundwork for what the future of theatre in Doncaster will be".
