A man is due to appear in court charged with murder after two people died in a house fire in east London nearly two years ago.

Mohammed Djellal, 24, and Faouzi Bouchadoe, 35, died in the property on Forest Road, Walthamstow, in April 2024.

Murder charges were authorised against 25-year-old Algerian national Fouad Boudra more than a year later - and an international arrest warrant was issued.

He was arrested in France on 26 January and extradited to the UK on Thursday. He is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Boudra is also charged with two counts of manslaughter, causing grievous bodily harm with intent to a third man and arson with intent to endanger life.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said around 40 firefighters attended the scene of the fire, which took more than two hours to bring under control.

The terraced house was totally destroyed by the flames, LFB said.
