A busy route into the capital of the Isle of Man is set to be closed to all traffic at the weekend while wastewater upgrade works continue.

A section of Kewaigue Hill, in Douglas, will be shut throughout Saturday and Sunday to allow Manx Utilities teams to work safely.

Work on the project, which has also coincided with the refurbishment of the White Hoe pumping station further up the road, began in February.

The road at Kewaigue will be closed to traffic again on 18 and 19 April.

Single line traffic controlled by temporary lights will remain in place between the two full closure periods.

Manx Utilities said a further three days of work would be carried out at a later date, which would see traffic controls put back in place between 09:30 and 15:00.

The dates for that work were being finalised with the Department of Infrastructure, the firm said.
