Man seriously hurt in fish and chip shop attack

A man has suffered a serious head injury in an attack inside a fish and chip shop.

He was assaulted inside The Village Chippy off Leach Croft in Stockbridge Village, at 19:30 GMT on Friday, Merseyside Police said.

Det Insp Steven O'Neill said it was a "shocking assault" and the man was in a critical condition in hospital.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
