Town to host water safety event
BBCA water safety event will take place in an East Yorkshire town later this month.
The National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) will host the event alongside the RNLI, HM Coastguard and Hornsea Inshore Rescue.
The RNLI will be instructing on water safety and how to survive getting into difficulty in the water.
The free event will take place in and around the Floral Hall in Hornsea on Friday 10 and Sunday 12 April between 10:00 and 16:00 BST.
Emergency crews, including Yorkshire Air Ambulance personnel, will also be in attendance.
Organisers said RSK Ordnance will explain to visitors how they deal with unexploded bombs found along the coast.
The British Divers Marine Life Rescue will demonstrate how they deal with injured or beached creatures, while an area of the Floral Hall will be used to show footage of erosion along the Yorkshire coast.
NCI was established in 1994 to restore a visual watch along UK shores following the final closure of HM Coastguard watch stations.
