Attempted murder arrest after man shot in Lechlade
BBCA man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in a vehicle.
Gloucestershire Police were called at about 19:10 BST on Monday after reports a man had been shot on Butler's Field in Lechlade.
The victim, a man in his 30s, then drove a short distance before getting inside a property. He was later taken to hospital with suspected gunshot wounds and injuries which were not thought to be life-threatening, officers said.
The suspect, a man in his 20s, was later detained near Fairford shortly before 22:00 after searches by the National Police Air Service. He remained in custody, police said.
Police said it was understood the suspect initially tried to leave the scene in a vehicle but fled on foot after colliding with parked vehicles.
It was also understood those involved were known to each other, and a firearm was recovered at the scene, the force said.
Acting Det Insp Sophie Dawkins said: "This is a worrying incident and no doubt will have caused a lot of concern in the community, especially during the time while officers were searching for the suspect."
Dawkins said that, while the investigation was in its early stages, police were not looking for anyone else in connection with it.
"Those living nearby will see an enhanced police presence over the coming days and we'd encourage anyone with concerns to speak to officers in the area," she added.
Anyone with information, dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage has also been encouraged to contact police.
