A plea hearing has been set for a man charged with murder after a mother-of-two died.

Helen Bird, 47, suffered serious injuries inside a property on High Street, Chelveston, Northamptonshire, on 2 February, and died eight days later, Northamptonshire Police said.

James Bird, 50, also of High Street, Chelveston, was charged on 3 March with attempted murder and later charged with murder.

Bird will next appear at Northampton Crown Court on 24 April.

A provisional trial date has been set for 3 August.
