E‑bike riders injured in 'close call' crash with car
Nottinghamshire PoliceTwo people were taken to hospital after an electric bicycle crashed "head‑on" with a car in Leicestershire.
Emergency services were called to a junction of The Dicken, Whetstone, following reports of a crash at about 19:20 GMT on Thursday.
Police said two people on the e‑bike both suffered head injuries after striking the vehicle's windscreen and the road.
East Midlands Ambulance Service treated the pair at the scene before they were taken for further medical assessment in hospital. Police confirmed both individuals will be investigated and the e‑bike has been seized.
In a social media post, Blaby Police called the crash a "close call".
"Whilst e‑bikes can be brilliant and eco‑friendly, it's unfortunate that we are still continuing to see them being used dangerously," the statement said.
"The moment they're misused, they become a danger- not just to the rider, but to everyone around them.
"Support was provided to the driver of the vehicle after they were extremely shaken up."
