Speed limit reductions around Plat Douet primary school follows requests from members of the public

Reduced speed limits on a handful of roads in a Jersey parish have come into force in a bid to "enhance safety and aid traffic flow", the Government of Jersey has said.

Limits have been lowered from 30mph (48km/h) to 20mph (32km/h) in areas near Plat Douet school, St Saviour.

Earlier this year, St Ouen introduced lower speed limits on more than 20 roads in a bid to "make people feel safer, encourage active travel, and improve safety for those travelling to and from school".

Speed limits have been lowered on a small number of roads in St Saviour:

  • Plat Douet Road (from its junction with Victoria Road to La Rue des Prés)
  • La Rue des Prés (from its junction with Plat Douet Road to a point near the entrance of Longueville Golf Range)
  • La Rue de la Hambye
  • La Rue de la Bachauderie

The government said the changes "follow requests from members of the public and reviews of the speed and volume of traffic near Plat Douet primary school".

It said it hoped the new rules would "enhance safety and improve traffic conditions for students and residents in the area".
