Driver who deliberately hit man with car jailed
Staffordshire PoliceA man who seriously injured another man when he hit him with his car has been jailed.
Andrew Paul Whalley, 34, and his victim had got into a fight in April 2024 while inside a shop on High Street in Talke, Staffordshire, before the pair ended up in the street.
He left the scene but drove a blue Vauxhall at the man about five minutes later, hitting the victim and leaving him with long-lasting injuries, Staffordshire Police said.
Whalley, of Nantwich, Cheshire, was jailed for five years and four months after previously admitting wounding with intent, affray and dangerous driving.
He was previously found not guilty of attempted murder before being sentenced for the other counts at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 23 March.
Sgt Gail Tolley, of Staffordshire Police, said: "Whalley subjected his victim to a spontaneous and violent attack which has left him with long-lasting injuries."
