Detailed plans for 200 new homes in a village in Leicestershire have been submitted.

The scheme from Jelson Homes would see fields off Croft Road, in Cosby, used to build properties ranging from one to five bedrooms.

Blaby District Council previously approved an initial outline application, which included public open space.

The developer has now submitted a reserved matters application, seeking the final go-ahead for the 24-acre site.

Plans also include equipped play areas and new footpaths around the development.

The application states the vision was to create a "development that is attractive, reflects the natural features and assets of its surroundings, and has strong links with the wider community of Cosby".

It added that it would "improve the quality and diversity of housing in the area, offering a range and choice of houses to meet local needs and help achieve a sustainable community".

The application states Cosby has a good level of services including schools and a number of shops and eateries, which are "sustainably located within proximity of the site".

The public consultation remains open and people have until the end of the month to submit comments.
