A minor injury unit has been forced to close for deep cleaning.

Clevedon Minor Injury Unit shut on Sunday afternoon but will reopen on Wednesday 11 March at 08:00 GMT.

Dr Andrea Gordon, chief operating officer of Sirona Care & Health, which runs the unit, said that the centre had been closed as a "precautionary measure".

In a statement on Tuesday, she said the incident had been declared over, adding: "I would like to thank our patients, staff and system partners for their support and cooperation during the closure period."

The structure of the building is safe and there is no known permanent damage.

Those needing urgent help in the meantime were advised to contact NHS 111 or head to the South Bristol Urgent Treatment Centre or Yate Minor Injury Unit.
