Drivers are being warned that a main road in north Shropshire will close overnight, to allow resurfacing works to be completed.

The A483 in Shropshire, between Llynclys and Llanymynech, near Oswestry, will shut from 21:00 BST on Tuesday to 06:00 BST on Wednesday.

Essential resurfacing works at the accident blackspot began on 23 February and was expected to finish by 20 March, but completion was delayed due to bad weather, National Highways said.

Diversions would be in place throughout the closure, with access maintained for residents and emergency vehicles, a spokesperson added.

The Llynclys crossing on the A483 has been the site of numerous crashes in the past, with one local resident previously saying there had been "endless accidents".

National Highways advised drivers to plan their journeys and added it would return to the site later in the year to perform more surveys.
