Plans have been submitted to create 350 homes and a supermarket on the edge of a town in Nottinghamshire.

Developers NorthCountry Homes and Eshton Group have submitted a planning application to Mansfield District Council for the development on land east of Mansfield Road in Market Warsop.

According to planning documents, the proposed scheme would also include a drive-thru coffee shop and a petrol station.

A report submitted to the council said the development would provide a "much-needed boost" to the local economy.

According to the plans, the housing element of the scheme would comprise 92 two-bedroom, 204 three-bedroom and 54 four-bedroom properties.

"The site is unique within the district in that it is capable of delivering both a quantum of much-needed quality low-cost housing together with a new food store and associated commercial outlets which will serve Market Warsop," a report submitted to the council said.

The report adds that the development would create about 145 jobs, with 100 positions set to be created through the supermarket.

Mansfield District Council's website states the authority aims to make a decision on the plans before 30 June.
