Kieran McPherson, 27, lives two doors down from where fire happened.

"I was actually asleep at the time and the buzzer was going off and I thought it was just some delivery driver or something," he told BBC Scotland News.

"But I looked out the window and saw a sea of fluorescent jackets and fire trucks.

"I knew it was pretty serious, so me and my partner swiftly got dressed and had to leave the flat."

McPherson said he was "focussed on getting out".

He added: "We had the police banging on everyone's door. It was quite chaotic. But it was a good response and I'm thankful we got out.

"It was quite a shock to step out and see the plume of smoke. It was quite surreal."

Reflecting on the experience, he said: "It was a total shock. I didn't think I'd be woken up like that."
