A motorcyclist who died in a crash with a car was much-loved and lived "life to the full", his family said.

Police said Lee Abbott died at the scene of the collision, which happened in Clacton Road, Manningtree, Essex, at about 15:45 BST on 8 April.

A pillion passenger on the bike was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Abbott's family said the 48-year-old, from nearby East Bergholt in Suffolk, had been a keen motorcyclist since he bought a track bike to ride-off road in his younger years.

Parents Jeff and Carol said he was a "much-loved" son, partner, brother, uncle and cousin.

"Lee always bought the present you didn't know you needed. He was always thoughtful and kind to everyone," they said, in a statement released via Essex police.

"He will be truly missed by all that knew him."

Officers asked anyone with information about the crash, including relevant dashcam footage, to contact the force, quoting incident 714 of 8 April.

They can also report information online or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
