A woman and a dog were left injured after being attacked by another dog on a footpath in Wakefield, police have said.

Officers were called to the scene, near Pildacre Lane in Ossett, just after 19:00 BST on Sunday, according to West Yorkshire Police.

The woman, one of two people attacked, suffered minor arm injuries, while the dog which was attacked suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to an emergency vet for treatment.

The dog which carried out the attack was seized and taken to kennels, with inquiries into the circumstances of the incident continuing, a force spokesperson said.

Anyone who saw what happened, or who had any information which could help the investigation, was asked to get in touch with police.
