Four people have been taken to hospital with stab wounds after disorder at a railway station.

A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old-man have been arrested on suspicion of assault with intent and remain in custody following the incident at Tenby station in Pembrokeshire on Tuesday night.

During the incident, one person was reported to be in possession of a knife leaving four people injured.

Dyfed-Powys Police said all injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Tenby's town council thanked emergency services and said it was "aware of recent incidents in the town involving groups of youths, which have included disorder, criminal damage and a very serious assault".

In a statement, the force said: "We understand an incident of this nature will cause concern, and there will be an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance."

Transport for Wales said trains were getting back to normal after earlier cancellations west of Carmarthen, while police completed their work.

Officers were called to the scene at about 21:50 BST.

British Transport Police (BTP) said there would be a "thorough investigation" into the circumstances and anyone with any information is asked to contact them.

BTP's Supt Jon Cooze said: "We have launched a thorough investigation into the full circumstances of the incident, and are keeping an open mind to the background of what has happened."

Dyfed-Powys has the third lowest rate of knife crime of forces across England and Wales, according to latest figures, when the size of population is taken into account.

About 2m visitors visit the seaside town every year.

The town council said in a statement: "While Tenby is a welcoming, close‑knit and safe community, the events of recent days have understandably caused concern among residents, businesses and visitors alike.

"We are clear that this behaviour is not Tenby and does not reflect the values of our town or the overwhelming majority of our young people."
