National League promotion hopefuls Scunthorpe were held to a goalless draw by Hartlepool.
Danny Whitehall's close-range header from Callum Roberts' cross which brought a brilliant save out of Hartlepool goalkeeper Nick Hayes was as close as either side came to scoring a goal in the first half.
Pools' late push for a play-off place had been derailed in spectacular fashion by their 7-0 thrashing by Wealdstone last time out, but they shook off that embarrassment to claim a point, despite offering little threat until the closing stages.
They burst into life at the death. First Tyrese Sinclair's overhead kick from a corner dropped narrowly wide, then in stoppage time they had a two-on-one situation, but Sinclair's cross towards Alex Reid was intercepted before Reid fired against the crossbar from Matty Daly's cutback.
