A stoppage-time effort from Matus Holicek earned Crewe a vital win over play-off rivals Oldham.

Kane Drummond fired the Latics ahead at a wind-lashed Mornflake Stadium before Reece Hutchinson levelled with a stunning first-half strike. Holicek then struck a minute into added time to end the Latics' 10-game unbeaten run and move Crewe up to seventh.

Oldham started brightly and Mike Fondop almost embarrassed James Connolly when latching onto a long ball, but poked his effort over.

Josh March drove Emre Tezgel's cross past the post at the other end before Jack Lankester failed to test keeper Mathew Hudson after Tommi O'Reilly played the attacker clear.

The visitors edged ahead on 29 minutes after Will Sutton and Fondop combined to offer Drummond the chance to steer the ball into space inside the box and drive into the corner.

Crewe levelled in spectacular fashion four minutes later when Hutchinson galloped into space and drove from more than 25 yards into the top corner.

March then slipped clear on the left of the box and his angled drive was beaten away by Hudson.

The goalmouth action continued after the break with Hudson thwarting O'Reilly twice.

Jamie Robson went close with a shot across the face of the Crewe goal and Manny Monthe headed onto the home bar from Tom Pett's lofted free kick.

O'Reilly surged clear but shot straight at Hudson.

Then in dramatic fashion, as Oldham thought they had cleared a stoppage time corner, Holicek drove from 20 yards into the top corner to win it for Crewe.
