    Phew...what an afternoon.

The League One play-off picture may have come into a little more focus today, but the one at the bottom looks murkier than ever.

And as for League Two, wow, today it seemed like the division nobody wants to win, but everyone is desperate not to drop out of.

We may have only had 15 games, but there was enough drama, on and off the pitch, that you'd think all 72 EFL clubs had been in action today.

Thanks for your company this afternoon, and for all your messages, enjoy the rest of your weekend and we'll see you back here on Thursday for more of the same!

    • Only Lincoln City (40) and Plymouth Argyle (33) have earned more points in League One in 2026 than Reading (32 – W9 D5 L4).
    • Exeter City are winless in their past 14 games in the Football League (D7 L7), only enduring longer runs in August 1995 (18), April 1984 (18), September 1992 (15) and March 1936 (15).
    • Blackpool’s 1-0 win over Burton Albion is their third successive game without defeat (W2 D1), only in December have they enjoyed a longer unbeaten run this term (5 games – W4 D1).
    • Since the start of February, only Aribim Pepple (10), Sam Dalby (9) and David McGoldrick (9) have been involved in more goals in League One than Wycombe Wanderers’ Cauley Woodrow (8 – 5 goals, 3 assists), with two thirds of his goal involvements in the league this season coming since then (12 overall).
    • Stockport County’s Kyle Wooton netted his 19th league goal this season against AFC Wimbledon, as many as he scored across his previous two league campaigns with the Hatters (8 in 2023-24, 11 in 2024-25).

    Two EFL games on Thursday

We've made it over the hump of the international break, well done everybody, but there is still more EFL action on the horizon.

Thursday night could be huge in League Two as Cambridge host Swindon in a clash of fourth and fifth, while Wigan welcome Leyton Orient at the same time in a big game on the fringe of the League One relegation scrap.

We'll be here for that, and consider it a warm-up for the following day, when we will have a full programme from the Championship, League One and League Two - turning your Good Friday into a great one.

All three play-off chasing sides in Reading, Stockport and Wycombe have enjoyed comfortable wins this afternoon.

County move three points clear of Stevenage in seventh, while the Royals climb into the top six. The Chairboys are also now within two points of the play-offs.

At the other end, a late winner for Blackpool means they leapfrog Exeter, who drop into the relegation zone and sit two points adrift of safety.

Burton's defeat to the Tangerines means they are just three points clear of danger.

The play-off race and relegation scrap is going all the way, isn't it?

    League Two update

We were kept waiting for the full-time whistle at Colchester, at the end of their meeting with Walsall after a drone stopped play (yes, you read that correctly). There was little drama following the restart and the game ended 1-1.

Elsewhere in League Two, Bristol Rovers' excellent run of form continued with a routine 2-0 win over Accrington, while play-off chasing Swindon missed an opportunity with three of the four sides above them losing, as they were held 1-1 by Fleetwood at the County Ground.

  7. Postpublished at 17:11 GMT

    FT: Stockport 3-0 AFC Wimbledon

That's now seven wins in eight games (D1) on home soil for Stockport. Perhaps the perfect foundation for their play-off push?

    League Two

If you'd said at midday the division's top three would all lose and three of the bottom four would win, well, you could have probably secured generational wealth.

Notts County are the big winners on the day, into the top-three courtesy of their 2-0 win at Harrogate at lunchtime.

Bromley's 21-game unbeaten run was ended by rock-bottom Barrow, second-placed MK Dons lost at Salford, who are firmly back in the automatic promotion race, while third-placed Cambridge went down at Barnet, who are eyeing a second-straight promotion on the fringe of the play-offs, though Crewe landed a blow of their own, snatching a last-gasp win over in-form Oldham.

Harrogate return to the foot of the table while Barrow remain in the relegation zone, despite their heroics, as Newport picked up a precious win over Shrewsbury while Colin Kazim-Richards oversaw a dramatic win over Gillingham in his first game in charge of Crawley.

  9. Late drama at either end of the tablepublished at 17:02 GMT

    League Two update

There were big, big goals in the closing stages at two different grounds as we moved towards full-time in League Two.

Crawley, in their first outing under new boss Colin Kazim-Richards, bagged TWO late goals through Taylor Richards and Tobi Adeyemo, who joined on loan from Watford in January. They've moved back out of the bottom two in League Two.

Matus Holicek, meanwhile, has secured a crucial three points for Crewe, who have inflicted a stoppage-time 2-1 defeat on play-off rivals Oldham.

  10. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:59 GMT

    Stockport 3-0 AFC Wimbledon

A big win for play-off chasing Stockport but they were more than made to work for it in that second half by Wimbledon.

County were clinical when their chances came and the visitors found home goalkeeper Corey Addai in excellent form to deny them on multiple occasions.

The Hatters are now within three points of Bolton in third with a game in hand on the Trotters.

They also move three points clear of Stevenage in seventh.

  11. 'From bad to worse for Wigan'published at 16:59 GMT

    Reading 3-0 Wigan

    Josh Watton
    BBC Radio Manchester commentator

The tone was set early on with it only ever going from bad to worse for Wigan.

They go back to the north-west empty-handed.

  12. goal

GOAL: Stockport 3-0 AFC Wimbledonpublished at 16:58 GMT

    Ollie Norwood (90+7 mins)

It's harsh on Wimbledon and ruthless from Stockport.

The visitors fail to deal with a ball into the box and it drops for Ollie Norwood who makes no mistake, firing a fine half-volley into the bottom corner.

Reading cruise to victory and into the play-off places.

A double from Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and a Will Aimson own goal did the damage as the Royals stretch their unbeaten home run to 10 games.

Wigan remain firmly in the relegation scrap.

  14. 'Still fight in the quest for survival'published at 16:58 GMT

    Barrow 2-1 Bromley

    Adam Johnson
    BBC Radio Cumbria Sport

And Barrow have ended the 21 game unbeaten run!

A second half showing which shows there's still some fight in the quest for survival.

And now can this be the time for Barrow to kick on and advance through the rest of the season?

  15. CLOSE!published at 16:56 GMT

    Stockport 2-0 AFC Wimbledon

A good chance for Stockport to put the icing on the cake as Kyle Wootton lays it on for the onrushing Ollie Norwood but he blazes over with a first time finish from about 15 yards out.

Don't think Wimbledon deserve to lose this 3-0.

  16. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:56 GMT

    Barrow 2-1 Bromley

The EFL is the gift that keeps on giving.

Bottom-of-the-table Barrow have beaten top-of-the-table Bromley.

The Ravens were unbeaten in 21 games, taking 49 points from them, and led at the break through Ashley Charles' glorious free-kick into the top-corner.

However, Barrow were brave and committed throughout and ended a five-game goalless drought at home when Josh Gordon glanced a header home from Connor Mahoney's deflected shot on 56 minutes and Danny Rose slammed home what turned to be the winner 11 minutes later.

The tables have been officially turned.

  17. 'Dons' second successive defeat'published at 16:55 GMT

    Salford 1-0 MK Dons

    Paul Dixon
    BBC Three Counties Radio commentator

Dons go to a second successive defeat.

Not a great game, not a great performance from either side.

Results elsewhere have gone Dons' way this afternoon and from that they can take some solace.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:54 GMT

    Reading 3-0 Wigan

Caylan Vickers bends a lovely effort towards the far corner for Wigan but Reading keeper Joel Pereira is desperate for a clean sheet after 12 straight games without one. Pereira gets across well to tip it behind with a fine save.

    Salford 1-0 MK Dons

Matt Butcher celebrates his winning goal for Salford against MK DonsImage source, Shutterstock

    A huge win for Salford.

A huge defeat for MK Dons.

A huge day in the League Two promotion race.

Matt Butcher's glorious strike from just outside the box midway through the second half was worthy of winning any game, and in truth Salford might have had a wider margin of victory in the end, after a scrappy first half, while MK's hopes were not helped by Luke Offord's late red card.

Karl Robinson gets one over on his old club, who have now lost back-to-back games after going 15 unbeaten.

  20. Late dramapublished at 16:54 GMT

    League One update

We finally have a goal at Bloomfield Road!

Blackpool have struck late in the day against Burton through CJ Hamilton, who picks the ball up on the edge of the penalty area from team-mate Leighton Clarkson and finds the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

A packed out Bloomfield Road is delirious. That's a huge goal for Blackpool in their fight against relegation - as things stand, they move out of the bottom four and above Exeter City.

Wycombe, meanwhile, have bagged a fourth against Port Vale through Junior Quitima.
