Danny Collinge's second-half winner gave Barnet a win over promotion-chasing Cambridge, boosting their chances of a League Two play-off place.

Barnet launched their first meaningful attack as Nik Tavares and Romoney Crichlow combined to tee up Collinge, who fired over, before Adam Senior's deflected effort was held comfortably by Cambridge goalkeeper Jake Eastwood.

Mark Shelton tried his luck from a free-kick on the left-hand side in the 30th minute, but his curling effort went wide of the target.

Barnet broke the deadlock early in the second half as Shelton's corner from the right was flicked in by captain Collinge at the near post.

Just before the hour mark, Barnet failed to capitalise on a lapse in the Cambridge defence as Callum Stead rounded the goalkeeper but could not angle his effort on target.

Barnet continued to press as Adam Senior drilled a low ball into the box, cleared off the line by Mamadou Jobe. Moments later, goalkeeper Cieran Slicker parried Glenn McConnell's free-kick as the hosts held on for victory.
