Southend produced a second-half fightback to draw 2-2 with National League promotion rivals Carlisle at Brunton Park.

The home side took a third-minute lead when Stephen Wearne intercepted a stray pass from Southend goalkeeper Owen Mason and was brought down as the pair came together, with Georgie Kelly slotting home the loose ball.

Mason came off worse in the challenge and was replaced by Collin Andeng-Ndi, who was soon in action as he tipped away a 20-yard effort from Regan Linney.

Carlisle added a second just before the break when Linney converted Ryan Galvin's cross.

Southend, chasing a place in the top seven, reduced the deficit through Andrew Dallas' low strike from the edge of the box before a late own goal from Carlisle defender Terell Thomas saw them leave with a point.
