Montrose inflicted further misery on Hamilton Accies as Jade McLaren scored a hat-trick in a thumping win in the first game of the SWPL split fixtures.

Accies have picked up just two points all season and were well beaten again as Craig Feroz's side fired six goals past them in the first-half.

Kaela McDonald-Nguah opened the scoring after nine minutes with on-loan Hearts midfielder Ashley Robertson getting the second.

Midfielder McLaren then scored a four-minute double around the half-hour mark, with Glasgow City teen Sophia Martin getting the fifth in a truly five-star performance.

McLaren had the chance to get her hat-trick on the stroke of half-time, firing in from the spot, and there would be no further goals after the break.

Montrose are four points clear in seventh-place at the top of the bottom half, while Accies are marooned to the bottom, nine points behind Aberdeen.
