Warning services for areas at risk of flooding are provided for England, Wales and Scotland. BBC Weather works closely with its partners to raise awareness of weather events affecting Northern Ireland. Specific flood warnings, however, are not currently issued for Northern Ireland.

    High tides overnight may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible from to 11:15PM on 17/04/2026 to 01:15AM on 18/04/2026 Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths along the coast at North Morecambe Bay from Roosebeck to Carnforth including low lying areas around Ulverston, Greenodd, Haverthwaite, Flookburgh, Grange-over-Sands, Levens, Milnthorpe, Sandside, Arnside and Silverdale. This Flood Alert will remain in force for Saturday 18/04/2026 lunch time tide with a peak expected 12:30PM. We are closely monitoring the situation . Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . This message will be updated by 8:00AM on 18 April 2026 or as the situation changes.

    High tides on Friday evening and Saturday morning may lead to flooding. Areas most at risk include the coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point including Porlock Weir. The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it is for peak levels at Hinkley Point as follows: The first forecast high water of 6.11mAODN is at 19:45 on Friday 17/04/2026, with Westerly force 4 winds. The second forecast high water is at 08:15 on Saturday 18/04/2026 with a level of 6.21mAODN with South-westerly force 4 winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level.) We are closely monitoring the situation . Don't put yourself or others at risk and take care on beaches, coastal promenades, roads and footpaths.     Areas affected:Groundwater flooding in West Ilsley, East Ilsley, Compton, Chilton and West Hagbourne

    Continued high groundwater levels may lead to flooding. Flooding of low-lying areas and roads is possible. Groundwater levels are high but slowly declining at our Hodcot borehole affecting West Ilsley, East Ilsley, Compton, Chilton and West Hagbourne. We expect levels to remain high over the next few weeks and levels will remain sensitive to further sustained rainfall. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. Residents are advised to consider property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. Keep up to date with groundwater levels on the 'Get Flood Warnings' site on gov.uk. This message will be updated by 4 PM, on the 21 April 2026, or as the situation changes.

Groundwater levels are high but slowly declining at our Northfield Farm borehole in the Great Shefford area. We expect levels to remain high over the next few weeks and levels will remain sensitive to further sustained rainfall. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. We are closely monitoring rainfall and groundwater levels. Residents are advised to consider property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed.     Groundwater levels are high but continuing to decline at our Farringdon borehole near Alton. Flooding of low-lying areas and roads continues to be possible. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. We are closely monitoring rainfall and groundwater levels. Residents are advised to ensure property resilience measures are prepared and check that pumps are working where they have been installed. Take particular care when driving through flood water both for your own safety and to prevent flooding to others.
