Spectacular Pink Moon lights up UK night sky

Skygazers have captured stunning shots of this month's full Moon, known as the Pink Moon, as it lit up skies on Thursday morning (2 April).
Officially reaching its peak at 03:12 BST, the Pink Moon became the fourth full Moon of 2026, following the Wolf Moon, Snow Moon and Worm Moon.

While not pink in colour, the name of the April full Moon harks back to ancient traditions before the advent of the modern calendar.

Used to mark the changing seasons, the names typically relate to significant events in nature and agriculture.

In this case, the Pink Moon refers to the pink phlox flower which blooms widely across North America at this time of year.

If you missed your chance to catch the full Moon this morning, you will have two opportunities next month when the Flower Moon rises on 1 May followed by the Blue Moon on 31 May.
