Grimsby regained the final League Two play-off place with a last-gasp victory over Fleetwood at Blundell Park.

Jaze Kabia's goal in the sixth minute of added time gave the Mariners all three points as they leapfrogged Chesterfield into seventh.

Ched Evans got just enough height on his clearing header to see the ball sail just over his own goal from a corner inside the opening 10 minutes.

Jay Lynch spared his own blushes after his attempted clearance was chased down by Andy Cook, with the Fleetwood goalkeeper recovering to stop Kieran Green's follow-up effort.

Fleetwood did not test Jackson Smith in the first half, but they had a sight of goal straight after the break, which Josh Powell could not capitalise on, firing into the arms of the Grimsby keeper.

Substitute Justin Amaluzor went closest for the hosts in the second half, heading onto a post after Cook had flicked the ball into his path from Reece Staunton's cross.

Kabia scored from Staunton's corner at the death despite Lynch's best efforts to keep it out at his near post.
