Mansfield put further daylight between themselves and the League One drop zone with a comfortable 2-0 win at Doncaster.

Second-half goals from Rhys Oates and Jon Russell saw Nigel Clough's side extend their unbeaten run to six matches and move on to 52 points.

Doncaster made the brighter start to a first half which became increasingly scrappy and stodgy. Luke Molyneux was the main threat for the hosts as he lashed an early effort off the post before flashing a pair of shots from the edge of the area narrowly wide.

Mansfield took the lead after 50 minutes, though, when Oates got in the way of Frazer Blake-Tracy's driven ball across the box and diverted it home from six yards.

The Stags stood firm to deny Doncaster clear-cut chances as they pushed to get back on level terms, and they made sure of the points in the 71st minute when Russell raced on to a George Abbott through ball and chipped over the on-rushing Thimothee Lo-Tutala.
