Alfie Beestin came off the bench to fire Scunthorpe to a National League victory over Altrincham as they came from behind to win.

The hosts started strongly with Danny Whitehall seeing a 10th-minute shot blocked on the line and Andrew Boyce heading straight at goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson, and the visitors needed the help of the upright to deny Joe Rowley.

However, it was Altrincham who took the lead five minutes before the break when, after Tom Crawford had slipped the ball into Sam Reed's run, he crossed for Lucas Weaver to fire past Louis Jones.

The Iron keeper twice denied the visitors a second goal early in the second half, but his side were back in it with 64 minutes gone when Joe Starbuck volleyed home the equaliser.

There was better to come for the hosts at the death when substitute Beestin blasted them to victory in stoppage time.
