 Cara Dillon (Ireland)
nominated by:
Stephen Lismore, Chesterfield:
'If I reach heaven when I die this will be how the angels sound.'
Gary Donoghue, Bradfield:
'I saw Cara for the first time at Snape Maltings on the UK East Coast in Autumn 2002 after her Radio 3 appearance. The live set was, supported by the superbly understated musicianship of Sam and Seth Lakeman, a stunning introduction to her special gift: a voice of such unbelievable purity yet, contained within, all of life's joy and pain. Never have I seen so many tears evoked in an audience as by her solo rendition of The Maid of Culmore. An incredible talent. For once, hearing is believing.'
Elly, Bristol:
'Her sweet, sweet voice can only be described as liquid velvet....'
David Moon, Horsham:
'There are sounds, there are voices, that I listen to and do not hear. Cara Dillon's spirit gets through.'
