วันนี้เราจะมาฝึกการใช้คำเชิญเนื่องในโอกาสต่าง ๆ นะคะ ฟังสี่ประโยคตัวอย่าง ที่ผู้พูดเชิญเพื่อนไปทำกิจกรรม และพยายามจับใจความว่า คนไหนเชิญเพื่อนไปที่บ้านนะคะ

OK คนที่สามเชิญเพื่อในรับประทานมื้อค่ำที่บ้านค่ะ มาดูวิธีการพูดเชิญกันนะคะ อันดับแรก มักจะใช้ได้บ่อย ๆ คือต้องถามก่อนว่าเพื่อนว่างหรือเปล่าค่ะ

Yes! So you can ask the question 'Are you free …? and then give the day or time. So you can say 'Are you free this weekend?' Or 'Are you free tonight?

Great! Hopefully the person is free and you can invite them to do something.

Yes, one way to invite people is to use the verb 'want' – 'Do you want to…?' But what happens to the pronunciation? Let's listen again.

Interesting! และการออกเสียงคำว่า ‘want’ และ ‘to’ รวมกันเป็น ‘wanna’ นะคะ

Yes. Let's practise. Repeat after me: wanna. ‘Do you wanna go to the cinema?'

ดีมากค่ะ และหลังจาก ‘want to’ เราก็แค่เติมคำกริยาเข้าไปนะคะ เช่นในตัวอย่างนี้ ใช้กริยา ‘go’ ค่ะ
และคำกริยาที่ใช้ ก็จะเปลี่ยนไปแล้วแต่กรณีนะคะ ซึ่งบางคำที่ใช้บ่อยเวลาพูดเชิญก็อย่างเช่น ‘have’ - Do you wanna have...? หรือ ‘come’- Do you wanna come…?

So next we heard 'would you like to…?'. This is slightly more formal than 'do you want to' but it’s another useful way to make an invitation.

ใช่ค่ะ และใช้ตามรูปประโยคเดียวกับ ‘do you want to…’ ดังนั้นเราก็แค่เติมคำกริยาในตอนท้ายค่ะ

Great – we have one more way to invite someone, don't we?

That's right – We can also use 'why don't you…?'

Clare
'why don't you..’? เป็นรูปประโยคปฏิเสธนะคะ แต่ใช้เป็นข้อเสนอแนะเชิงบวก หรือเป็นคำเชิญได้ในกรณีที่ไม่เป็นทางการค่ะ

And after 'why don't you..?' we just add the verb.

'Why don't you..’ ใช้ให้คำแนะนำก็ได้นะคะ ดังนั้นเพื่อพูดให้ชัดเจนว่าเราต้องการเชิญเพื่อนมาทำกิจกรรมด้วยกัน เราใช้คำกริยา ‘come’ ไม่ใช่ ‘go’ และเติม ‘with us’ หรือ ‘with me’ เข้าไปด้วยค่ะ Let’s listen again.

Did you say the same? คราวนี้ให้สมมุติว่าเพื่อนว่างนะคะ ให้เชิญไปสวนสาธารณะค่ะ ใช้คำกริยา ‘want’ และระวังเรื่องการออกเสียงด้วยนะคะ พูดให้ทันก่อนได้ยินเฉลยนะคะ

Well done. แต่เพื่อนไม่อยากไปสวนสาธารณะค่ะ ให้ลองเชิญไปทานมื้อเที่ยงที่บ้านกันนะคะ คราวนี้ให้ขึ้นต้นประโยคด้วยคำว่า ‘why’ ค่ะ
