Muir finishes fourth again after heartbreaking final run

Great Britain's Kirsty Muir talking to BBC Sport after her fourth in the freeski big air final: "I enjoyed it quite a lot. I was having a really great time in practice and we had the long break and I was having a great time then as well and I got back into it quickly and I’m really proud of myself for putting the two tricks down that I did and also going for it in that third four because I’ve never landed that trick before but I just had to go for it. I crashed but I’m still proud of myself.

"I was wanting to do the 16 with a blunt grab, a different grab, but it just didn’t happen. It is a pretty difficult grab!

"When the scores came in for the other girls I knew I had to give it something really, really good to get on that podium so I’m stoked that I did try that.

"I love skiing with the girls. They are my besties and I’m just stoked. I’m stoked for Meg, she skied unbelievably.

"I can’t really process how many have been [inspired] but I’m just so grateful for the support back home. I hope everyone has seen how cool our sport is. Just so much love and thank you to everyone back home."

Great Britain's Anastasia Vaipan-Law and Luke Digby spoke to BBC Sport in the mixed zone after their routine in the pairs free skate.

Vaipain-Law said: "It was just as much fun. Nothing takes away from performing in front of that crowd and our family and friends. It was so much fun to do. Inevitability we had a couple of mistakes there - it is what it is, but we're still super proud of ourselves for everything we did today."

Digby added: "I didn't really know much [about what went wrong on the axels] until I was almost on the ground and then I just continued to fight for the rest of the combo. We did have a little blip but I'm really proud that we stuck together and finished really strong. It shows a lot about us as people and as a team, we never give up right till the end."

On their Olympic experience, Digby said: "It will never change us as people but it will give us memories for a lifetime. It has been our goal since we've been young kids - the journey has been tough with plenty of up and downs. but to finally achieve our dream and we know that for the rest of our lives we can really proud of what we did at this Olympics and that is what means the world."

The rest is so exquisite, elegant. Looking at the replay, Minerva Fabienne Hase is just so tense on all of her solo bits.

The Germans had a four and a half point lead on the field after the short program, and seven points on the Japanese duo.

A chunky margin - but will it be enough?

Have they left the gold out there?

I don't think they are going to win the gold medal.

Flawless in the second half of the routine from Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin but the mistakes in the first half have almost certainly cost them the gold medal.

They hold each other on the floor for a while after the music stops. They know.

Controversial coach Eteri Tutberidze - perhaps best known to the wider world for her berating of Kamila Valieva at Beijing 2022 - has been involved with the Georgian team in preparation for these Games.

Her methods are divisive, and her involvement with Russian athletes guilty of doping has raised a lot of questions.

But she has helped Georgia create history tonight.

The elements were so precise and clean, crystal clear at the start. There was a tiny step out but every milli-point counts in this final. I don't think it will match the Japanese.

The technical panel are looking at the finite details for landing, footwork etc. The rotations on the jumps and the timing are superb.
