That's all for tonight after a quite brilliant Scotland victory that will live long in the memory.

Written off last weekend, the Scottish players responded superbly to earn a deserved victory for their under-pressure head coach Gregor Townsend.

With fly-half Finn Russell once again pulling the strings with some outrageous moments of skill, Scotland ended England's 12-match winning run in some style.

England started poorly and had Henry Arundell handed a 20-minute red card after being sent to the sin-bin twice. But there were mistakes across the team with Eliis Genge fumbling badly to present Scotland with one try and George Ford having an attempted drop-goal charged down for the decisive try in the second half.

Scotland are now top of the Six Nations standings - who'd have thought that after last week's disappointment. It's going to be a heck of a night in Edinburgh!

Rugby correspondent Chris Jones was at Murrayfield to commentate on Scotland's famous win over their old rivals. Here's his summary of a game for the ages.

Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu tells BBC 5 Live: "I felt guilty [after the defeat to Italy], head coaching is a hard job because when it is going well you get all the positives but when it is not going well you get all of the criticism.

"I am proud of the boys for getting behind our coach and delivering a performance."

Being a commentator is never easy, there's hardly any time for snacking!

Scotland fly-half Finn Russell tells ITV: "It's obviously a special fixture for us. A bounceback was really important for us.

"The forwards fronted up and allowed us backs to throw it around and score some great tries.

"It's us that's out there so we have to take ownership [for last week]. We had two good training days and felt good coming into it.

"It's thick and fast now. We're in a good place and we showed that today. We need to be tough on ourselves to get these performances.

"England had a lot of territory in the second half, so we couldn't do it as much. The mindset was to go at England.

"The chargedown was a key moment. We spoke this week about George Ford going for the drop-goal and putting him under pressure, so it's good it came off.

"There's a big game next week as well. We win, but let's not ease off."

There was some bad news for Scotland though and Townsend suggests they could be without some key players in Cardiff after Jamie Ritchie and Jamie Dobie went off injured.

"They're all collision injuries, they do look serious," he said.

"These are key players but we have depth and we know we're going to have to use players anyway. Let's hope they're not too serious but at this stage it will be tough for them to play next week."

On suggestions that Scotland save their big performances for games against England, Townsend doesn't buy into that narrative.

"We played some of our best rugby against England and that's great," he added.

"I don't know why people see a negative in that, it's our biggest game. It seems to be a narrative that it's a negative that we do well in this fixture. We only see positives, and I reminded our players how well we've done in this fixture.

"I'm very proud of the team. I was proud of them last week, we went 29 phases in monsoon conditions, starting from our own tryline to try and win that game. You ask so much of the players during the week and they put it in at the weekend. If they don't turn up with a victory it's not down to their energy and effort. I was proud of them last week and I'm proud of them this week.

"It's about the team. We've had performances at this level just recently - the New Zealand game and for part of the Argentina game - there's a tendency to look at the negatives. Tonight we started better and drove our performance all the way through. This team's been playing really good rugby and it's nice to just get a result."

On facing Wales next weekend: "Playing three Test matches in a row is different, it's a challenge for the players. We've timed a week in Spain really well so we can recover well out there and on the back of a win it's going to be a much better week. Cardiff is a tough place to play, we know how well coached that team is, we know it will be a tough game next week."

"I'm really proud of how we played," he told the BBC.

"From an attacking point of view the ambition, the accuracy, the speed, the decision-making was outstanding in that first half hour. Defensively right throughout the game, England had a lot of possession at times and we kept our disciple, we fought really hard in the tackle and run the ball back.

"It's tough times when the opposition is throwing everything at you, they've emptied their bench and to be in control at the end of the game was very pleasing."

England host Ireland next week - make or break for their title hopes, one suspects.

England head coach Steve Borthwick speaking to BBC 5 Live: "We are bitterly disappointed at that first 20 minutes, the lead Scotland got ahead of us and playing for such a long period with 14 men.

"The way Scotland can move the ball to the edges without our winger, it exposed us there and it gave us too much to do."

On what Borthwick expected Scotland to do: "We expected them to go aerial and move the ball to the edges, they are very good in that regard. We knew they would come out and play with a whole lot of emotion. They are very good players in a very good team.

"There has been a lot of talk about Gregor Townsend but his players really showed up today, they really performed and really played for Gregor today.

"They don't play like that in every single game. We will look at where we weren't good and we will work on those things.

"I think we have a mixed kick strategy, we tried it today but credit to Scotland, their back field coverage was good.

"This championship is full of good teams and these contests are hard fought. Today we gave ourselves too much to do. There is plenty for us to learn from and take forward.

"Win or lose, we will always be working to being a better team."

The thoughts of England head coach Steve Borthwick are coming right up...

Scotland's Kyle Steyn tells BBC Sportsound: "We could feel the pressure after last week.

"We felt really connected to the fans, we knew how frustrated they were [after the defeat in Italy]. The noise today in the stadium was absolutely unbelievable

"I just can't thank the Scottish fans enough. Credit to our guys, credit to Gregor [Townsend], credit to Sione [Tuipulotu] because it would have been easy to default to what we'd done before.

"It's one week at a time, all the focus is on next week and we go again."

They need to back it up.

Sione and Gregor have spoken about that, so we know that's what their focus will be. The very best sides, the drop-off isn't as big.

You could tell 20 mins in, the bravery, the aggression, the intent. There's something about this fixture in this stadium. Against the other nations, it doesn't stack up.

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend tells ITV: "I think I was just so proud of the way we played tonight.

"After 20 minutes I thought that was some of the best rugby we've every played. It's all you want as a coach and then to see the effort in the second half, we became a team that would fight for each other and the supporters.

"A special mention to our supporters. We've given them something to shout about for the next 12 months.

"We know that rugby brings out the best in us, being very aggressive and playing at speed. I thought that was one of Finn Russell's best games for Scotland and the work rate of our forwards was superb.

"There's so many games that you play well but the opposition paly well too and they can get narrow wins or come back and win. We know we're up there with the teams we come up against, sometimes you can't get the win but we're really pleased we got it today.

"The players can share the joy with their families, they can enjoy having the trophy in the changing room but we're back on it next week and we go to Cardiff to build on what we did today."

England will bounce back but sometimes you don't get what you think you should get.

You have to go out there and understand what the opposition could bring.

This is Scotland's sweet spot. This is a really good Scotland squad with great coaching staff, who have the capability to humble the form team in the world. They need to embrace it.

Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu tells BBC Sportsound: "Beyond proud.

"I'm proud of everyone involved. I see everything that goes on behind closed doors that everyone else doesn't get to see. I stand by what I said during the week and I'm happy we got behind our coach today and put in a performance we can be proud of.

"The main message at half-time was to come out here and press them and we pressed them.

"I want to enjoy tonight with my teammates but make no mistake we'll be all hands on deck.

"We'll prepare to the best of our abilities to back up this performance."
