Farrell on the strength and depth going forward: "We talked during the week about the next 18 months and how we are going to map it out and what we're trying to chase down. There are going to be a lot of firsts that can happen and how difficult the road is going to be but the thing is making sure you grow the squad to be able to do that and the belief with it.

"With the injuries coming back, some of them will compete, some of them won't be back for that tour [Nations Championship] but some of them coming back and the rest of the lads who 100% believe this is their team and they're able to deliver for their team at this level will only make us stronger to tackle those circumstances you talk about."

Farrell on the influence of the crowd: "It was our responsibility to bring the crowd into the game and I don't think we have heard that crowd like that here for some time. That's what we're chasing to all be in it together, that's what we've done in the past and hopefully people can see where we are going in the future."

More from Andy Farrell on different players' performances: "Look at the lads who took the field today who it was their first tournaments, someone like Darragh Murray to come in, played his first caps in the summer but to come in and score the try and charge down, his line-out was great.

"Mikey Milne, to perform like that, you could go through it like that and talk about everyone.

"There are a couple of standout stories. The Tom O'Toole thing is amazing. It's amazing what he has done, he should be unbelievably proud of himself, it's a tough thing to do but how he handled it and stood up is a fantastic story.

"Stu McCloskey, he should be in the running for player of the tournament. For him to back it up five games on the trot is new in this format. To perform consistently at that high level is amazing and all because he is playing in a squad that is well connected.

"I thought Caelan had one of his best games in his career. We could talk all night about this group, unbelievably proud."
