The ISPS HANDA Senior Open Championship is to be staged at Royal Porthcawl in 2027.

The only senior major played in Europe will take place on the south Wales links for the fourth time after previous editions in 2014, 2017 and 2023.

Royal Porthcawl, which successfully staged the AIG Women's Open in 2024, will host the stars of men's senior golf from July 22-25 next year.

Bernhard Langer won the 2014 and 2017 events at the course, with fellow German Alex Cejka beating Padraig Harrington to the title in 2023.

"The golf course is rated by many as one of the best in the country and we look forward to seeing the legends of the game compete there once again," said championship director Edward Kitson.

Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, chief championships officer at The R&A, added: "Royal Porthcawl is an important venue for The R&A and has an enviable track record of staging prestigious professional and amateur championships.

"We enjoyed a fantastic championship during the AIG Women's Open last year and the players relished every moment of playing these wonderful links.

"We look forward to returning next year for the ISPA HANDA Senior Open for another memorable week of golf."
