Jaidon Anthony and Marcus Tavernier hit woodwork in even contest
Europe-chasing Bournemouth play out fourth consecutive draw
Second-from-bottom Burnley now winless in four matches
Bournemouth lost further ground in the race for European football as they were held to a fourth consecutive Premier League draw by relegation-threatened Burnley at Turf Moor.
Andoni Iraola's side are now unbeaten in 10 consecutive top-flight games but have drawn five of their past six - against Aston Villa, West Ham, Sunderland, Brentford and now Burnley.
The Cherries have never played continental football and are three points behind seventh-placed Brentford, who face bottom side Wolves on Monday.
The visitors threatened to score after just two minutes, but Brazilian striker Evanilson's effort which was blocked on the line by Bashir Humphreys was the closest they came to taking the lead in the first half.
Having withstood early pressure from Bournemouth, Burnley were denied the lead by the woodwork in the 42nd minute when Jaidon Anthony arrived unmarked at the far post to strike a corner against the crossbar.
Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier brushed the outside of the post with a shot from the edge of the box at the start of the second half, but there was nothing to separate the sides despite the game opening up in the latter stages.
While Bournemouth have 41 points with eight matches to go, Burnley are eight points from safety with both West Ham and Nottingham Forest above them having a game in hand.
Bournemouth analysis: Same old story for Cherries
Iraola 'frustrated' at wasteful Bournemouth in Burnley draw
Bournemouth were denied all three points by a late Armando Broja goal when these sides met at Vitality Stadium in December.
And with his side becoming experts in stalemates - no team has drawn more Premier League games this season - Iraola said before kick-off that another "draw is not good for us or them".
In fact, the Cherries had looked determined to leave Burnley with a win after making a promising start.
Evanilson was slipped into the box by Eli Junior Kroupi and rounded goalkeeper Martin Dubravka only for his effort to be cleared off the line by Humphreys early as Iraola's side piled pressure on the strugglers.
Four corners won by the visitors inside four minutes told the story of the opening exchanges but the Cherries failed to sustain that momentum and were lucky not to be behind at half-time.
They had chances to secure a victory during the eight minutes of stoppage time, but Enes Unal failed to turn home Adrien Truffert's low cross from close range, before fellow substitute David Brooks could not direct a header on goal from another Truffert delivery.
Iraola's side are on a 10-match unbeaten run now, but six of those games have ended in them splitting points with the opposition.
And their 14th draw of the season would feel like another big chance missed as they eye a maiden European voyage.
Burnley analysis: Time running out for Clarets
'It was fine margins' - Parker on Bournemouth draw
A third Premier League relegation in five seasons is looking imminent for Burnley.
With eight games remaining, the Lancashire club could find themselves 11 points adrift of safety if either West Ham or Forest win this weekend.
Manager Scott Parker knows time is running out for the Clarets but his players did well on Saturday to keep their faint survival hopes alive with a hard-fought draw.
They rode waves of early Bournemouth attacks before settling into the game and threatening themselves.
Unsurprisingly, it was their joint-top scorers Anthony and Zian Flemming who were their bright sparks as they drew decent saves out of Djordje Petrovic, while Humphreys and Lyle Foster also had chances fall their way.
Bournemouth then left Anthony unmarked during a James Ward-Prowse corner and would have paid a heavy price had the Burnley attacker managed to keep his shot down against his former side.
The lively Anthony was denied an eighth goal of the season again by full-back Adam Smith who threw himself against a shot from close range in the second half as Burnley failed to break the deadlock.
The result means the Clarets have won only once in 21 league games since the start of November and picked up fewer points (10) than any other team during that period.
They might have held Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Bournemouth since the turn of the year, but Parker's side must be dealing in wins rather than draws if they are to pull off a miraculous escape.
What's next for these teams?
Burnley travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in their next Premier League outing on Saturday, 21 March (15:00 GMT).
Bournemouth, meanwhile, will welcome Manchester United to Vitality Stadium on Friday, 20 March (20:00).
