Right, it's time to bring this live text to a close but you can carry on watching the Champions League highlights show at the top of the page until 00:00 GMT.

    It's only half-time.

But for one or two Premier League clubs, it already feels like game over in terms of their European ambitions for another season.

As you might imagine Bodo/Glimt head coach Kjetil Knutsen officially maintains the tie is 'only at half-time' and is not 'closed.'

However he could not hide his delight at the swagger with which his side probed in attack, especially in the first 45 minutes.

He told Uefa: "I am really happy with how good we were in the build-up play and creating imbalance almost every time we had the ball in the first half.

"The second half was different so we are a little bit lucky. It's a good performance but it's not a surprise to me."

  4. 'The Champions League is different'published at 23:07 GMT 11 March

    FT: PSG 5-2 Chelsea

    PSG

Paris St-Germain's Joao Neves speaking to TNT Sports: "The Champions League is different, it's another atmosphere. All players like to play in these games, but in the end it doesn't matter what the game, I know the players give their best for the club. We've had chances to score five in other games like today but we just had the precision in front of goal that we deserved."

"I'm a lucky boy to be in this team, I learn from them every single day and I hope they learn something from me. It's been amazing."

  5. 'The whole club knows this isn't finished'published at 23:05 GMT 11 March

FT: Real Madrid 3-0 Man City

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, speaking to Uefa: "It was an incredible game to be apart of it, more so for the team. We wanted to win and we went out there and won. Three-nil is an exceptional result for us and I think it was thoroughly deserved. Of course they had their chances and possession - it's Manchester City, we expected that - we were ruthless and took our chances."

Are Real Madrid celebrating already? "It's only half-time. If you are celebrating at half-time and thinking the game is done, your mindset is completely wrong. The whole club knows this isn't finished. We have seen crazy games between these two clubs before, so we can't rule out anything. We don't take anything for granted and will go to the Etihad and try to win there as well."

What is the magic behind Real Madrid in the Champions League? "You step up when it counts most. We understand as players the importance of this competition to the club and to the fans and you never take that for granted. You know that there is an expectation to win games. Whether there are players injuries or things behind the scenes that make us look like we are the underdogs, it doesn't matter. Our mentality is that we want to win this competition. We've started well and we mean to go on."

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior: "A very disappointing result in an evening where for so much of the game I was really happy. The last 15-20 minutes were crazy. We need to be better with setbacks and we need to stay calm and we didn't.

"It's a painful scoreline because for 75 minutes we were way in the tie and the game itself

"Players make mistakes, Filip [Jorgensen] is not the first one to make a mistake, that's part of football. In that moment at 2-2 we were in the ascendancy an inch away from going 3-2 with Joao Pedro scoring after Enzo Fernandez was offside, but in the top level, the Champions League level, it is fine margins.

"The fifth goal was the most painful one after a flashpoint."

On Pedro Neto pushing a ball boy: "I genuinely have not seen it yet. I saw there was an altercation with a ball boy. If there was anything from our side that was out of order I apologise on behalf of the club, I think Pedro has done [apologised] in interviews. We've spoken a lot about discipline and staying calm and it's on me to find the answer."

Things are always moving and it is the manager's job to pick the right team. You have to assess the mood in the team and see where the players are at individually.

Bukayo Saka looked off tonight and there may be a legitimate reason for that. And Madueke looked better. Arteta needs to be getting those decisions right from now until the end of the season

Could Eze have brought more from the game? I didn't get quite enough from him tonight.

  8. 'We were better than the result'published at 22:56 GMT 11 March

FT: Real Madrid 3-0 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to TNT Sports: "I had a feeling that we were better than the result said...but the result is here. We have one week and then we will see them at the Etihad."

On his side's chances of mounting a comeback: "Now we recover mentally and physically and go to West Ham. We will see. We will be with our people - I'm pretty sure they will come - and in football you never know. We will try."

  9. 'We will try to win the second leg'published at 22:54 GMT 11 March

    FT: Paris St-Germain 5-2 Chelsea

    PSG

Paris St-Germain boss Luis Enrique: "It has been difficult but I think everybody was happy, who was supporting PSG, because the result is good. It was very tough because both teams were trying to play football.

"This is the most important moment for us in this competition, we know it's going to be tough away at Chelsea. I think we played well at a high level against a difficult side. I'm happy.

"I think we try to play the second the leg like we did tonight and try to win. It's the best mentality because if we think about defending our lead, it's a big mistake."

  10. 'I felt sorry for Jorgensen'published at 22:52 GMT 11 March

Filip Jorgensen's mistake affected the mindset of the players. I felt sorry for him as he had a good game and then made a mistake.

Liam Rosenior does not have a number one goalkeeper so he is seeing who can take the shirt. But goalkeepers like stability and trust so that is not the ideal approach in this scenario.

It might be time to look at Robert Sanchez again for Saturday's home game with Newcastle.

Chelsea's Pedro Neto, who was involved in a late incident when he pushed a ball boy, said: "I wanted to come out and say about the situation that happened on the pitch, I want to apologise to the ball boy. I have already spoken to him.

"We were losing and in the emotion of the game, I wanted to get the ball fast and I gave him a little push.

"I'm not like this, it was in the heat of the moment and I want to apologise. I gave him my shirt. I'm really sorry about it, I feel I have to apologise to him.

"My French is not very good, and [Portugal team-mate] Vitinha came over and said to him I was not like this.

"At the end he [the ball boy] laughed and I gave him my shirt and said sorry about 35 times. He could see what had happened and was happy with the situation."

  13. 'A City comeback would be spectacular'published at 22:45 GMT 11 March

FT: Real Madrid 3-0 Man City

    Paul Robinson
Former Leeds goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Estadio Bernabeu

It is going to have to be spectacular for Manchester City to come back from this. But we have seen them do it before and they have the quality.

At the Etihad, City need to be open and expansive. But they then leave themselves susceptible on the counter-attack. City's weaknesses have been exposed and Real took advantage tonight. One more Real goal and it is out of their reach.

  14. Valverde 'most under-rated footballer on planet'published at 22:43 GMT 11 March

Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, speaking on TNT Sports: “Massive performance. A lot of the noise when the draw was made and leading up to this game, especially with the way we have been playing and results we have had... a lot of people expected us to get battered tonight.

“But it shows the mentality. It doesn’t matter what injuries we have got or players out. This competition matters a lot to the club and as players we understand that. We go out there and they support us like that and anyone can win. We have executed the game-plan perfectly.

“We had confidence coming into this game. We knew our game-plan, we executed it and scored our goals very ruthlessly.

"The size of the game is the main thing. I don't want to say that other games are less important but when there is so much hype around a game and so many eyes on it, you know you have to perform. When you play for a club like this the expectation is that you have to win.

"I am running out of words for him [Federico Valverde] as a player. He is undoubtedly the most underrated footballer on the planet.

"When you play with him you understand how much he gives to the team. He covers every blade of grass and gives his all. As a player the best attribute you can have is that your team-mates can always count on you and he never lets us down."

Bodo/Glimt goalscorer and player-of-the-match Sondre Fet told Uefa: "It’s a very good feeling, I am quite happy with my own and my team's performance. It was quite an open game, we could have controlled it more but it was quite a good performance against a good team

"It will be a really difficult game in Lisbon (next Tuesday) but if we just continue the way we defend and attack as a team I think we can also make trouble for them there."

FT: Man City 3-0 Real Madrid

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to TNT Sports: "Real Madrid had the ability and the quality. It is what it is. I felt we were better than the result. Now is the time to recover. We'll go to West Ham which will be tough."

On the prospect of staging a comeback in the second leg: "In football you never know. We will try."

  19. 'It felt like watching two different matches'published at 22:28 GMT 11 March

    FT: PSG 5-2 Chelsea

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

I feel like I watched two matches. Minutes one to 75 were ones of a positive Chelsea performance. But the high risk, high reward approach did not come off.

It felt like a collapse at the end and I could not believe what I was watching. The tie has been thrown away after what was quite a good performance up until that point.

PSG's firepower has also ended this tie - they have the best attack anywhere in Europe right now.

  20. 'It feels really dark'published at 22:26 GMT 11 March

FT: Real Madrid 3-0 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, speaking to TNT Sports: "It is difficult to speak about it because I would need to watch it again. My feeling on the pitch was that we started the game well.

"The environment we could not control and I think my team let the emotions change the game. We felt comfortable and were finding the right spaces but after conceding the first one we lost completely the control, we stopped controlling transitions and second balls. When you play against Real Madrid with the quality they have you pay the price.

"It is a tough stadium to play at. We are used to playing at these stadiums because playing at Anfield and St James’ Park is very tough. You need to go through these moments to become better and today was just a learning game for the whole team.

“It is quite frustrating [we didn't score], even though we believe it is still possible because in football a lot of things can happen, at half-time we were saying, ‘the situation is bad’ there were a lot of things that shouldn’t have happened but with one goal you are in the tie.

At 3-0 it makes it a bit more difficult. Now it feels really bad, now it feels really dark. Tomorrow is another day and for sure next week we will go to the game thinking we have a chance.

“Right now is the moment to reflect and see what we didn’t do right. Then next week when we are preparing we will be hopeful we can do something.”
