Swindon Town winger Junior Hoilett will turn his attention to securing a spot in Canada's squad for their home World Cup this summer after helping the Robins clinch back-to-back wins in League Two.

The 35-year-old has joined up with his international team-mates in great spirits after he scored a 91st-minute winner as Ian Holloway's side beat Tranmere at the weekend.

It was his first goal for the club since joining from Hibernian in February and secured consecutive away wins after Swindon's victory at Gillingham the week before, leaving them fifth in the table, three points off the automatic promotion places.

And while preparations will continue domestically for the visit of Fleetwood Town on Saturday, Hoilett will be across the Atlantic, working to ensure he is part of Canada's World Cup squad in June.

"They were two great results that could take us a long way – seven more finals to go so we need to keep working at it, recover and go again," Hoilett told BBC Radio Wiltshire.

"[Canada have] got two important games coming up back home in Toronto against Iceland and Tunisia. It is an important camp leading into the World Cup to get the right momentum and confidence into our players.

"They will be two big games and every minute counts on the training ground so we've got to work hard to get ready and in shape leading into the first game on June 12."

He added: "Every kid dreams of playing in the World Cup and representing their country and it is a real bonus being on home soil in front of family and friends, so it is going to be an exciting moment and hopefully I can be there on June 12 to represent my country."
