  3. Littler set for weekend offpublished at 22:05 GMT 26 March

Among the many, many incredible things about Luke Littler is that in general he doesn't really prepare that much in between events, preferring to switch off from darts.

It certainly works, and again he's having the weekend off after tonight's sublime darting display before heading to what is almost a home Premier League fixture in Manchester next week.

Littler told Sky Sports: "I knew if I won tonight then I'd go top [of the table] but as I always say you've got to take it game by game.

"This is probably the best I've played in a night, obviously I won in Cardiff but this was better tonight.

"Tonight has gone really well. I'll have the weekend off, have Monday and Tuesday off then we'll be back for Manchester."

  4. Littler's stats on the nightpublished at 22:01 GMT 26 March

It was some display from Luke Littler tonight, with averages of 105, 108 and 106 in his three matches.

He hit 10 maximum 180s, checked out at over 40% in every match and of course the icing on the cake being those two 170 checkouts.

And he leaves them on purpose you know, often turning down the chance to hit a much bigger score and get a much lower checkout because of his love of going for the Big Fish.

You just hardly ever see them on the big stage, for Littler to get one in back-to-back Premier League events is something special, to get two in one night is incredible, to get two in one match is otherworldly.

  5. New darts work a treat for Littlerpublished at 21:54 GMT 26 March

Luke Littler averaged over 105 in his quarter-final win over Stephen Bunting, then went and changed his darts for the next two matches.

And they certainly did the trick with two 170 checkouts in a simply amazing final victory.

"I played very well," Littler told Sky Sports. "Them two 170s.

"This is definitely the best I've played in a night. I said coming into this that if I win my first game I'll change my darts coming into the second game, so yeah that'll get a few people talking.

"I got people talking in Saudi, that's when I used them, but Target [his darts manufacturer] went back, made a few adjustments to them as they weren't quite right, but I think they worked tonight."

  6. Premier League tablepublished at 21:49 GMT 26 March

Here's how the table is now looking after Luke Littler bagged his third weekly win of the season. He's looking in ominous form now.

  7. He's done it again!published at 21:42 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 3-6 Littler

Are you kidding me Luke Littler! He hits a 170 checkout again, this time the Big Fish wins him the match.

The 170 checkout, the Big Fish is something special that all darts players dream of hitting on the big stage, but he's bagged two of them in one match, a short match at that, and pulling it out to win the final is just insane.

  8. Big break!published at 21:41 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 4-5 Littler

We've gone from a Big Fish to a big break as funnily enough Michael van Gerwen gets down from 170, but in six darts after going close with the initial effort.

Luke Littler can't take out 153 in response and after two blocker darts MVG hits with a brilliant third at double 15 to take it.

  9. The Big Fish!published at 21:38 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 3-5 Littler

There it is! The 170 checkout Luke Littler is famed for, he's reeled it in again!

Michael van Gerwen can only watch in wonder as Littler has pulled it out against him again, just as he did last week. Of course, MVG hit one of his own last week and he'll need something similar to stay in the contest.

  10. Littler back in frontpublished at 21:38 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 3-4 Littler

Luke Littler misses double 10 for once but this time Michael van Gerwen can't take advantage when sat on 105 but unable to engineer a shot at a double.

After both men have won three legs on the spin each we're back on throw again with Littler edging ahead. Can he get a break now at the right time again?

    How good is this?

These two had an absolute rip-snorter of a game last week and they are at it again.

These two like playing each other I swear.

  12. All square!published at 21:35 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 3-3 Littler

We're in for another cracker between these two it seems as Michael van Gerwen holds to level the match.

    That's a 12-dart leg on throw - great stuff!

  13. Postpublished at 21:34 GMT 26 March

We've got a game on now!

  14. MVG back in itpublished at 21:34 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 2-3 Littler

Here we go, Michael van Gerwen is back in the game now as he checks out a 124 on the bull for a big break of the Luke Littler throw.

We know Mighty Mike can't really live with Littler's scoring in general but big finishes like that will help.

  15. Postpublished at 21:32 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 1-3 Littler

    Wayne Mardle
Former World Matchplay finalist on Sky Sports

That is better. That will make Michael van Gerwen feel better.

  16. MVG on the boardpublished at 21:32 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 1-3 Littler

Michael van Gerwen gets a leg on the board finally. Luke Littler actually hits a 180 in that leg but it's not enough as MVG takes out 97 to reduce the deficit.

  17. Bull for 3-0!published at 21:32 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 0-3 Littler

Luke Littler doesn't flinch on 126 when he thumps his final dart into the heart of the bull for a 3-0 lead - he also doesn't flinch when he wins the leg as he's got the eye of the tiger look about him right now.

  18. Postpublished at 21:30 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 0-2 Littler

    Wayne Mardle
Former World Matchplay finalist on Sky Sports

The pressure is already on Michael van Gerwen.

A checkout of 66 is not an easy one but it is one players think they should pop.

Even if this final goes south, it is has been a good night for Michael. Three points is a good night.

  19. Early break for Littlerpublished at 21:30 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 0-2 Littler

MVG needs 66 to hold throw but his final dart at double 18 is a mile off and when Luke Littler is sat just needing tops then you know you're in trouble.

You're actually in more trouble once Littler hits single 20 as he just doesn't miss on double 10. An early break as Littler means business.

  20. Fast start from Littlerpublished at 21:28 GMT 26 March

    Van Gerwen 0-1 Littler

Brilliant start from Luke Littler who hits a 180 to leave 81 and the rest is history as he wraps it up in the blink of an eye to take the opener on his own throw.
