We're bunching up now behind Luke Littler after the world champion lost his opening match of the night.

Gerwyn price moves up into second place just two points behind Littler and level on points with fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton.

Michael van Gerwen sits in the fourth and final play-off spot but Gian van Veen is now just a point behind him in fifth with Luke Humphries now in sixth and with work to do.

Stephen Bunting is playing better than his seventh place suggests and even Josh Rock is showing signs of being able to make a late run.

Another great night of Premier League action with plenty of talking points - from Gerwyn Price's dominant display to Luke Littler losing his cool, and his match, with Gian Van Veen.

We had another 170 checkout but this time not Littler reeling it in as Price produced that as one of many big finishes to go along with solid scoring that made The Iceman too hot to handle tonight.

More Gerwyn Price talking to Sky Sports: "You just feel sometimes like you can't miss and I start throwing my darts the right way and they start sitting in the top of the treble 20 and I start reeling in big fishes!

"I just want to pick up two points every week so a win is a bonus and £10,000 in the bank too! Up to number two is really vital points for me.

"We probably all are studying the table but we don't talk about it. It is definitely in every players' head and I think everyone is still in with a chance, even Josh [Rock]. If he wins a couple and he's got a bit of confidence now. Anyone can still qualify in the top four.

"I've missed a couple of tournaments in the past couple of weeks so that may have helped. I like to chase everything normally when the Premier League is on but I've missed Pro Tours and I missed the last European and I'm not going to Germany this weekend and it tells when you have a little bit of a break. You're biting at it to come out and win points. I don't feel as confident because I'm not playing but having a break means I feel fresh and it definitely helps."

  6. 'I was a nervous wreck'published at 22:52 BST 2 April

    Result: Price 6-2 Van Veen

Gerwyn Price talking to Sky Sports: "I was chasing two points first and foremost. It was a tough game to start against Luke Humphries but I played very decent in that one. I started out with two big checkouts that settled me into the game - I was a nervous wreck from then on in!

"I played really well against Stephen [Bunting] in the semi-final and I thought he played really well too. Then against Gian [van Veen], I thought he wasn't really on his game which I was happy with because I thought I was playing decent but you always doubt yourself."

  7. Price finally convertspublished at 22:50 BST 2 April

    Price 6-2 Van Veen

Gerwyn Price has been playing great darts for weeks now but just not managing to turn it into trophies.

Being beaten the last four Premier League nights by Luke Littler hasn't helped - although he had himself to blame after blowing a 5-0 lead against Littler in the Dublin final.

So tonight he owes Gian van Veen an assist as he took Littler out for him but the Dutchman couldn't stand up to Price in the final.

That's a fourth final for Van Veen and a fourth defeat so although it's a nice return to form after his kidney stones this one, like them, will sting.

  10. Price wins week nine!published at 22:41 BST 2 April
    Breaking

    Price 6-2 Van Veen

There it is! Gerwyn Price takes out tops again to claim a second nightly win of the season.

The Iceman has been totally dominant tonight, with 6-2 wins over Luke Humphries, Stephen Bunting and Gian van Veen in a near dart-perfect performance in Manchester.

That powers him up into second in the table.

  11. Van Veen still fightingpublished at 22:39 BST 2 April

    Price 5-2 Van Veen

Gian van Veen is still plugging away and he takes out 41 to hold his throw and force Gerwyn Price to serve this one out for the weekly victory.

It is all going according to plan for Gerwyn Price. This is a night of almost perfection.

  13. Price on the brinkpublished at 22:38 BST 2 April

    Price 5-1 Van Veen

Gerwyn Price takes out 84 and that's the first "gwaaaan" of the final as he moves one leg away from victory.

Mind you he was 5-0 up the last time he was in a Premier League final, and lost....

Gian van Veen has been fighting and fighting all night and he just isn't getting away with that in this game.

  15. Gian on the boardpublished at 22:36 BST 2 April

    Price 4-1 Van Veen

There'll be no whitewash in this final as Gian van Veen gets a leg on the board on his own throw - it helps that Gerwyn Price did hit a ton-plus checkout this time.

We were spouting last week about how good Luke Littler but this is way better. It's unplayable.

  17. Price in total controlpublished at 22:34 BST 2 April

    Price 4-0 Van Veen

A 14-dart leg from Gerwyn Price on his own throw with Gian van Veen nowhere near and that's a 4-0 lead in the final.

Price has hit four out of five doubles now.

  19. Another big finishpublished at 22:33 BST 2 April

Gerwyn Price breaks the Gian van Veen throw again, and again he does it with the same 128 checkout he managed in the opening leg.

That's just outrageous arrows from the Welshman.

  20. Price doubles leadpublished at 22:32 BST 2 April

    Price 2-0 Van Veen

A hold for Gerwyn Price doubles his lead. Two 140s do the damage, with the second setting up 65 which he takes out - of course he does as he's been so clinical on doubles tonight.
