  1. Goodbye!published at 17:45 GMT 28 February

That's all from us. Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by five runs but it wasn't enough to qualify for the semi-finals, with New Zealand clinching second place in Group 2 on net run-rate to advance to the last four.

Make sure you read Timothy Abraham's report here.

We'll be back on Sunday at 09:15 GMT with the final block of Super 8 matches. First up it's South Africa versus Zimbabwe and then a winner takes all encounter between India and West Indies.

    See you then - goodbye!

  3. 'If I'd won the toss, it would have been a different story'published at 17:38 GMT 28 February

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha: "When I lost the toss, it was always going to be challenging because of the dew. It was a good pitch. Restricting to 148 was going to be challenging - we tried. If I'd won the toss, it would have been a different story.

"Dew was definitely a factor. We couldn't execute the plans we wanted to. Usman Tariq had an off-day. He's been exceptional but one off-day can happen.

"We didn't bat well in the tournament. It was only Sahibzada Farhan who batted exceptionally well. Our batting was always a concern, especially the middle order. It's been an issue for a few years now. We need to sit down and look at that department.

"We didn't finish the way we wanted to. In 20 overs, the opposition will have two [good] overs and that was the case. We batted really well for 18 overs. If we'd done well, scored 10-15 more, it could've been a different story. But even 160 was always going to be challenging."

  4. 'Sorry to the Sri Lankan fans'published at 17:34 GMT 28 February

Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka: "It was a closer game at the end but unfortunately well bowled to Shaheen Afridi at the end. It's been a tough campaign. I want to say sorry to the fans because we fell down. In the future I feel this team will do well.

"We were missing two key bowlers and it was a big loss in terms of the World Cup. Hopefully they will return soon and do well for Sri Lankan cricket.

"Sometimes as players we feel the pressure. I wanted to say sorry to all the fans. The players are thankful for everyone who is behind us. There some positive signs for Sri Lankan cricket. Hopefully it's a bright future ahead."

    Was this the match-changing moment?

Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman had put on 176 for the first wicket.

But from 176-0 in the 16th over, Pakistan lost eight wickets in quick succession to finish on 212-8 - and ultimately, that wasn't enough.

The disappointment of missing out on the semi-finals will overshadow Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan's century.

He made 100 off 60, including nine fours and five sixes, and shared a 176-run opening stand with Fakhar Zaman.

He finishes the tournament with 383 runs at a strike rate of 160.25, including two centuries and two half-centuries - no one has ever scored more runs in a single T20 World Cup nor scored two centuries at one tournament.

He's named player of the match.

Pakistan gave it a good old go and they gave themselves a chance.

That is the best game that I've seen at the World Cup, but I do think the better team have progressed in New Zealand.

Dasun Shanaka finishes unbeaten on 76 (31), including two fours and eight sixes.

I wonder how much he's thinking about the penultimate delivery and his needless attempt at a reverse scoop. And should he have swung his bat at that final ball? Wide or not, he had nothing to lose.

Either way, what a chase from Sri Lanka. I'm exhausted.

Oh, what an anti-climax. It's a delivery out wide from Shaheen Shah Afridi.

He turns to look at the umpire, Dasun Shanaka is pleading with his eyes, but the arms don't go out.

Pakistan win by five runs but even with the two points, they're out of the T20 World Cup.

They needed to restrict Sri Lanka to 147 or under. They didn't. New Zealand are through to the semi-finals.
