It didn't bring as much drama as a Super 8s match-up normally would but, nevertheless, we really enjoyed taking you through it.

Make sure to join us again tomorrow for a jam-packed day of action. We'll have live-text commentary as West Indies take on South Africa at 09:30 GMT and India face Zimbabwe at 13:30 GMT.

    Catch you then!

  2. 'We knew what we had to do with the ball'published at 17:18 GMT 25 February

New Zealand captain Mitch Santner: "There was obviously a nice little period for us with the track and with the ball. They squeezed us a lot, I think we lost three wickets on 84 which is never ideal.

"The longer we could take it, myself and Cole [McConchie] were thinking we would try to get to 140, which kind of set it up for the last two or three overs. I guess 160 wasn't a bad total from there."

On his captain's knock: "Well I wasn't particularly happy with my four off 10 in the last game! It's one of those wickets where, if you can get in and give yourself a bit of time, you can cash in. It was pretty tough to start out there, so to hit 160 was nice.

"Then we knew what we had to do with the ball after watching the whole of the first innings. It looked like a pretty wicket at the toss. We have watched a few games here and it has kind of been a case of the more you bowl, the more it spins. Also, on the seam was quite nice and effective."

On facing England next: "They are outstanding, we know that. It is a quick turnaround for us. If we play on something similar to this, it might be a bit of a slog-fest as well."

  3. 'Embarrassing to disappoint the home crowd'published at 17:17 GMT 25 February

Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka: "It's embarrassing to disappoint the home crowd, they've been very supportive. We started really well but that partnership [between Santner and McConchie] was a really good one that took the game away from us.

"Also, the decision to bat was a collective decision but we didn't expect the pitch to turn that much.

"We wanted to restrict them to 130 but, to be honest, they played really well so we must give them credit.

"One more game, we need to finish on a high so hopefully we can have our best game."

Great advert for the T20. New Zealand faltered, rode the wave to recover, and Sri Lanka quite honestly were gone after their first couple of innings.

  5. 'Pretty much a complete performance'published at 17:07 GMT 25 February

Player of the match, New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra: "It's always pleasing to have a win like that. Credit to Sri Lanka, they're amazing, especially at home, but it was a pretty much complete performance from our team."

On information taken from his batting to help his bowling: "Understanding that slower was better, the more purchase you get from the surface. We thought about it as a spin group and decided slower was better."

On his bowling: "For me, it's about offering a contribution to the team. Batting in the top three and being able to bowling a few overs helps to balance the team."

On silencing the crowd: "Yeah but the Sri Lankan crowd is amazing. Hearing the national anthem is a pinch yourself moment. It reminds you why you play this game."

NEW ZEALAND WIN BY 61 RUNSpublished at 16:59 GMT 25 February

New Zealand give themselves a fighting chance of reaching the semi-finals with a 61-run victory over Sri Lanka!

Who'd have thought they would claim such a convincing victory over Sri Lanka?

Dasun Shanaka's side bail out of the competition with a whimper, following Super 8s defeats to England and now New Zealand.

    Wellalage c Ravindra b Phillips 29 (SL 105-8)

Dunith Wellalage is caught at deep forward square leg.

He tries to go big with a sweeping shot but is caught by Rachin Ravindra for 29 runs off 23 balls.

This game has been over for a long time now, but Wellalage not being able to see this one out is the latest in a long line of disappointments.

  8. SL 104-7published at 19 overs

The home crowd have seen enough of this Super 8s encounter. They are emptying out of the stands, they want an early night!

Just four runs come off captain Mitch Santner's latest over with the ball in hand.

  9. SL 100-7published at 18 overs

Sri Lanka finally bring up the 100!

It has taken them 18 overs to do it - but at least they have got there.

It looks like they are departing the T20 World Cup with a whimper though.

  10. SL 95-7published at 17 overs

This is a bit more like it from Sri Lanka's batters.

Dunith Wellalage and Dushmantha Chameera have found a bit of rhythm in strike now, taking a further nine runs from the latest over.

They had given themselves a mountain to climb in the early stages of this innings and, despite some better batting, they still need 74 runs off these last three overs.

  11. 6 runs

    SL 87-7published at 16 overs

Dunith Wellalage absolutely wallops one towards deep backward square leg off the first leg of the 16th over - and it soars into the stands for Sri Lanka's first six of the innings.

They take 10 runs off Glenn Phillips' latest over, but their required run-rate has still surpassed the realms of 20 runs per over...

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15 overs

    Mendis c Phillips b Santner 31 (Pak 77-7)

Kamindu Mendis is dispatched by New Zealand captain Mitch Santner!

I did say Sri Lanka needed to let rip now, but I didn't mean they needed to do it at the cost of another vital wicket.

Glenn Phillips takes his first catch of the match at deep forward square leg - and it's an important one!

Where do Sri Lanka go from here?

  13. SL 71-6published at 14 overs

New Zealand move one step closer to victory thanks to yet more brilliant and concise bowling.

Spinner Glenn Phillips limits Sri Lanka to just four runs off his maiden over. Kamindu Mendis and Dunith Wellalage are doing what they to build up a partnership in strike, but they have to go at some point.

For me, it is now or never.

  14. SL 67-6published at 13 overs

Dunith Wellalage manages to muscle one to the deep backward point boundary for a consolation four in that over.

    Sri Lanka are 67-6.

Rachin Ravindra is reminding me of Daniel Vettori the way he has bowled. It's extraordinary the amount of spin he's got. He's bowling really smartly.

  17. wicket

    Hemantha c Mitchell b Ravindra 3 (SL 59-6)

Oh no, another wicket bites the dust!

Sri Lanka's Dushan Hemantha decides it is time to let one rip out towards long on, but Daryl Mitchell is there to cushion in the catch.

New Zealand are firmly on top here. They could see this victory out long before the 20-over mark.

  18. SL 59-5published at 12 overs

Sri Lanka finally pass 50 runs!

They manage to find two boundaries off Cole McConchie's over through Kamindu Mendis.

What New Zealand can do here is improve their net run-rate immeasurably by bowling Sri Lanka out.

  20. SL 47-5published at 11 overs

Dushan Hemantha comes in for Sri Lanka at eight.

He hits his first ball for a meagre single.

Let's see how these two settle in at the crease together...
