An absolutely superb day of red-ball cricket, with three of our matches into the chase.

Leadrs Somerset look in great shape for their second win of the season in a game, while Essex have moved into the box seat away to Warwickshire. Two games of real ebb and flow.

Northants and Middlesex look set for a high-scoring draw, but who knows who will win at Bristol where Lancashire have stumbled in the chase against basement side Gloucestershire.

So many wickets, so many milestones.

Thank you for sharing them with us.

We'll be back at 10:45 BST tomorrow to find out how this will all end.

We'd love to have you along for the ride.

It's quite befitting of Lancashire's start to the season almost.

They've had a very good start - one wicket away from winning their opening two matches - but nothing's really come easy, and despite bowling Gloucestershire out for 136 in their first innings it still hasn't come easy.

But, they're in a position where they're in the box seat for the moment.

  4. Close of play at Bristolpublished at 19:18 BST 19 April

    Gloucs v Lancs 75-3 (target 202)

And Keaton Jennings sees off the final over - picking up a couple with the penultimate ball - and Lancashire will, eventually, be happy with their day's work.

Gloucestershire rallied from 28-3 to put on 305 in their second-innings with a huge helping hand by James Bracey's superb century.

James Anderson led the fightback for Lancashire, unsurprisingly, and he and George Balderson claimed four wickets apiece - eight for Anderson in the match and nine for Balderson.

Jennings will return to the crease 25 not out, with Michael Jones 15 not out, for the Red Rose who will go into the final day favourites to pick up back-to-back County Championship victories.

It wasn't a perfect day for the visitors, however, after Luke Wells was forced off the field in the morning session with what is suspected to be a dislocated shoulder and he left the ground in a taxi to go to hospital as Lancs suffered their second injury of the match.

Lancs require another 127 runs to win with seven second-innings wickets still in hand - what another great day it has been in the County Championship!

Nothing out of the ordinary - just a single off the over.

We have six deliveries left in Bristol which Henry Brookes will bowl.

    Gloucs v Lancs 72-3 (target 202)

Two overs left in the day, we will see a bit of spin.

Graeme van Buuren is on for Gloucestershire.

    Gloucs v Lancs 72-3 (target 202)

    Good shot from Michael Jones.

He keeps this down nicely on the back foot through cover for four.

Jones picks up two more runs to move onto 15 not out with the following delivery from Henry Brookes.

  8. Close of play at Northamptonpublished at 19:06 BST 19 April

    Middlesex 109-1 - lead Northants by 41

As suspected, bad light ends play early for the third day running, with 10 overs left in the shed.

Middlesex will be delighted with their afternoon and early evening's work after a brilliant 165 from James Sales had moved Northants into a 68-run lead on first innings.

Sam Robson goes to supper unbeaten on 49 in search of his first Championship fifty of the season, with Max Holden needing eight more for the milestone.

Middlesex close 41 runs ahead with nine wickets intact. A draw looks almost inevitable unless the pitch suddnenly begins to misbehave.

  9. Postpublished at 19:06 BST 19 April

    Gloucs v Lancs 66-3 - target 202

Lancashire see out Gabe Bell's over - and pick up three more runs in the process.

Three overs left in the day on day three at Bristol. We will play until 19:15 BST this evening

  10. 'Warks going to have to fight tomorrow'published at 19:04 BST 19 April

    Warks v Essex 11-0 - target 206

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

Essex have had a cracking day.

They're going to be disciplined but tomorrow Warwickshire are going to have to come and fight hard where they can to prevent Essex from getting their further 195 to win.

  11. Postpublished at 19:01 BST 19 April

    Gloucs v Lancs 65-3 (target 202)

Keaton Jennings (22 not out) looks to cut a short of a length delivery by Henry Brookes but doesn't time it and there is no run.

Gabe Bell is back to bowl at the other end- he has looked menacing this evening.

With his first delivery of his 10th over, Michael Jones plays one into the leg side for a couple - good work from Henry Brookes on the boundary prevents the ball going for four.

  12. Postpublished at 18:58 BST 19 April

    Gloucs v Lancs 62-3 (target 202)

Another tight over from Gabe Bell - his sixth maiden of this Lancashire second-innings.

With five overs of the day remaining as the sun comes down over Bristol, Henry Brookes comes into the attack for Gloucestershire.

  13. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 18:54 BST 19 April

    Essex 11-0 v Warwicks - Target: 206

Keith Barker in for the final over of the day.

Dean Elgar gets on the front foot and firmly behind the second ball which is bang on line.

The third swings away but Elgar lifts his bat high and away from danger.

Barker keeps the South African opener honest with the final three balls. A half-hearted lbw appeal from the slips to end an absorbing day.

We've seen 17 wickets fall on day three - a real moving day - and while Essex are favourites, needing 195 more with 10 wickets in hand, the game remains in the balance.

  14. Postpublished at 18:52 BST 19 April

    Gloucs v Lancs 62-3 (target 202)

With the sun going down, you may not be surprised to read that Lancashire have slowed the run rate down.

Keaton Jennings works a single behind square - Matt Taylor looked interested then as Jennings played that late in front of his front pad.

Six overs remaining in Bristol as we are still making up for lost time after the bad weather on day one.

  15. 'Sunshine split-second ago'published at 18:51 BST 19 April

    Northants 409 v Middlesex 341 & 109-1

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

How can it be dangerous and unreasonable when we've just had sunshine a split-second ago?

We knew they set themselves a bad precedent from the first evening to say that was bad light and this is going to be the bad light that dictates for the rest of the game.

  16. Postpublished at 18:48 BST 19 April

    Essex 11-0 v Warwicks - Target: 206

Five dots from Keith Barker's first over before Sam Cook picks up a single off the final ball and he will farm the strike once more.

Zen Malik made a tumbling stop on the boundary rope as Cook and Dean Elgar ambled through for one.

Now runs for five-wicket hero Cook as Ethan Bamber strays down the legside and the Essex skip helps it on its way for four.

Then a nice flick into the offside brings Cook foiur more, though Elgar will now have to face the final over of day three in the Edgbaston sunshine.

  17. Postpublished at 18:44 BST 19 April

    Gloucs v Lancs 60-3 - target 202

Textbook cover drive to the boundary from Lancashire's Michael Jones to get off the mark.

A good way to get off a pair after his duck in the first-innings.

  18. Bad light stops playpublished at 18:42 BST 19 April

    Middlesex 109-1 - lead Northants by 41

Sam Robson turns Calvin Harrison into the legside for a single to move to 49.

The umpires converge again at the end of the over and this time they take the players off at 18:42 BST.

That could be that with 10 overs still scheduled.

50 up for Lancashirepublished at 18:38 BST 19 April

    Gloucs v Lancs 54-3 - target 202

Good, tempting bowling around the wicket from Gabe Bell here.

Lancashire have just brought their 50 up - for the loss of three wickets - before Keaton Jennings fires a wide ball towards square-leg for four.
