    What a night in 0161.

We saw some huge names take the stage - like Pharrell Williams for his Global Songwriter Award, as well as relative newcomers - such as best gospel act and newcomer, 18-year-old DC3, and best male act Jim Legxacy.

But it was Olivia Dean's night - taking home three of her four nominations - and it might even be her year, according to our music correspondent Mark Savage.

She nominated her third award to black author and activist Bell Hooks, and "all the black feminists that inspire me to love better".

The three time Mobo winner graced the stage to sing A Couple Minutes, for the first time in front of a live audience. It followed performances from Manchester legend Aitch, as well as Slick Rick, Flo, Estelle and Myles Smith.

That's it for our coverage of this year's Mobos - thanks for joining.

A third win for Olivia Dean!

That’s put the seal on an incredible run of awards this year… First at the Grammys, then the Brits and now at the Mobos.

She only has the Mercury Prize to go before she gets a clean sweep.

It would take a hardened cynic to argue she doesn’t deserve the accolades. Her second album, The Art Of Loving, is only six months old but it already feels timeless.

With a modern pop spin on the classic soul sound, songs like Man I Need and So Easy (To Fall In Love) have won fans from every walk of life.

It’s been a dizzying 12 months for the Londoner, who first fell in love with music when she bought a Leona Lewis CD from Woolworths.

But from her poised and thoughtful speeches, to the sheer joy with which she performs, she appears to be taking it all in her stride.

Speaking backstage a little earlier, bandleader Femi Koleoso told me the Mobos are about more than recognising the latest trends.

It’s about recognising the pioneers who made it possible.

"I think Black British music is a very, very precious story of the UK," he says.

"I think all the way back to the Windrush generation, and moments like Lord Kitchener saying, ‘London is the place for me’. I think about watching a bands like Faithless or Bloc Party, Skepta and beyond.

"We think about Courtney Pine, about Omar and all of those artists who came first. That's the legacy that black British music has given us. So to have a moment where we celebrate all of them at the same time, is really precious."

"When you love what you get to do, you're never working, you're just having the time of your life," he says.

Slick Rick is backstage with his lifetime achievement award, but he’s not letting it go to his head - speaking with quiet humility as he thanks the UK for "appreciating my work".

The Surrey- born rapper stood out in the early days of hip-hop by mixing British slang with New York street talk. "I guess it was unique," he told me.

"It stood out when I used words like ‘crumbs’ and ‘peasants’ - that whole vibe. They all thought I was posh!"

Pharrell Williams, producer, rapper, singer, creative director of Louis Vuitton, star of his own Lego movie and owner of several giant hats, has just received the Global Songwriter Award at tonight's ceremony.

It comes in recognition of a career that’s seen the Virginia-born musician craft hits for everyone from Kelis and Justin Timberlake to Kendrick Lamar and Daft Punk.

He’s best-known for his inescapably upbeat Happy - written for the Dreamworks animation Despicable Me 2 - which is the best-selling single of the 21st Century in the UK.

His stripped-back productions have made an indelible mark on popular culture - resulting in an astonishing 25 platinum records in the US.

Fascinatingly, he has the condition synaesthesia, which means he "sees" his music as a series of colours and shapes.

"It's the only way that I can identify what something sounds like," he told US radio station NPR in 2023. "I know when something is in key because it either matches the same colour or it doesn't."

    Mark Savage

If you ever needed a shot of adrenaline, this celebration of grime should do the trick.

From Chip bursting out with Legend to D Double E dropping Street Fighter Riddim and Wiley serving up the stone cold classic Wot Do U Call It? … the room was shaking.

Pharrell, watching from the audience, pulled what can only be described as a stank face. He’s not the only one.

YouTuber and influencer Niko Omilana picked up the Mobo Award for best media personality a little earlier, but he tells BBC Newsbeat in the winners room that he has "frauded" his way to get the award.

He says his fellow Beta Squad members - Chunkz, Aj Shabeel, Sharky and KingKennyTv - are all bigger personalities in his opinion.

The content creator, known for his pranks and efforts to stand in local elections, teases that he is still "weighing things up" on whether he takes on the next elections following his Mobo's success.

Without sharing any major spoilers, I’d place a bet on it sending her back to the Mobos next year.
