Experienced German goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow has joined Hearts on a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old arrives at Tynecastle as a free agent after leaving Union Berlin.

Schwolow has made more than 200 Bundesliga appearances, having spent four seasons with Freiburg, two with Hertha Berlin and one on loan with Schalke.

Over the past two years, he has served as back-up at Union Berlin.

Zander Clark has started seven of Hearts' nine matches this term, with Craig Gordon and Ryan Fulton currently recovering from injuries.

Clark, included in the Scotland squad for September's World Cup qualifiers away to Denmark and Belarus, has had a run of fitness scares in recent games.

Liam McFarlane, 20, has been on the bench in the past two outings, while Harry Stone is also available to head coach Derek McInnes.
