Ryley Towler could only think about what it would take to leap into the stands to celebrate with Lincoln City fans when he scored the equaliser at Huddersfield that extended the Imps' unbeaten run to 21 games.

Towler levelled in the fourth minute of stoppage-time to compete a stunning turnaround for the League One leaders, having fought back two goals down to draw 2-2.

It made for a memorable first Imps goal for substitute Towler, as the point it earned at the Accu Stadium moved Lincoln five points clear of second-placed Cardiff City.

"I was more focused on the celebration," the defender told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"When it went in, I thought I'll go get straight in there [with the fans]. I absolutely loved it.

"The fans have been brilliant since I've come in, so to get a little moment like that in the last minute right in front of them, I just had to jump in there.

"I'll watch the celebrations back a few times to see what it was like, because they were magnificent."

Goals from Ryan Hardie and Ryan Ledson put Huddersfield 2-0 up against a Lincoln side that had not conceded more than one goal in a match for nearly eight weeks.

But Lincoln would go on to showcase why they have not lost for almost four months, as an own goal from Josh Feeney gave the Imps a lifeline which Towler eventually ensured the visitors took in a dramatic climax.

"It's a great point in the end which feels as good as a win," Towler added.

"We didn't start how we wanted to, but it shows the character of the lads to get back into the game to get a point.

"But even when we went 2-0 down, in the back of my head I still felt like we would get something from the game."

Being the one complete the comeback came as a surprise to Towler for a few reasons, having come up with a rare goal after being called on to replace the injured Adam Reach with 17 minutes remaining.

"You've just got to be ready all the time," he said.

"I don't score often, but when I do I'll jump in the away end."
