Wales' hopes of qualifying for the European Under-21 Championship were boosted with a 2-0 win over Belarus at Rodney Parade.

Rotherham United striker Gabriele Biancheri - on loan from Manchester United - put the hosts ahead after 15 minutes when Belarus failed to clear a Cameron Congreve cross.

Congreve also got the assist for Wales' second goal when his corner kick from the right was headed in by an unmarked Archie Harris.

Victory lifts Wales off bottom spot and into fourth place on six points, two clear of Belarus.

Matty Jones' side are four points behind Group I leaders Belgium - who beat Austria 1-0 later on Friday evening.

Wales face Denmark next on Tuesday, 31 March, looking to get revenge for a 6-2 hammering in the opening round of games.
