Addicks defender Coady leaves hospital after scans

On-loan Charlton Athletic defender Conor Coady has left hospital after being knocked out during the 1-1 draw at Watford on Monday.
Former England international Coady, who joined the Addicks from fellow Championship side Wrexham for the rest of the season in January, received lengthy treatment after being hit by a shot during second-half added time at Vicarage Road.
The 33-year-old, making the 500th appearance of his club career, was carried off on a stretcher but, in a statement, Charlton said Coady was given the all-clear after scans, and thanked Watford's medical staff.
Coady, a Euro 2020 finalist with the Three Lions, posted a photo on Instagram of himself smiling shortly afterwards, telling fans he was "on my way home" and their messages of support "mean a lot".
Charlton said their medical team will continue to monitor Coady and follow protocols.
Speaking after the match, Charlton head coach Nathan Jones told BBC Radio London that Coady had "literally put his body and head on the line and blocked a shot that was whistling".
Watford counterpart Ed Still offered support to Coady and his family in his post-match comments.
"I do really hope he's okay," Still told BBC Three Counties Radio. "That's way more important than anything I [can say] about the football."
Coady joined Wrexham from Championship rivals Leicester City on an initial two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £2m, in August 2025.
He has not featured for his parent club since starting their first five games following promotion and has made nine appearances for Charlton, scoring in their 1-0 win at Middlesbrough on 11 March.
