Burnley sign defender CJ Egan-Riley and centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis

Burnley have signed former Manchester City defender CJ Egan-Riley on a four-year deal as well as centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis on a season-long loan from the Premier League champions.

Manchester-born 19-year-old Egan-Riley spent 12 years at City, going on to make three first-team appearances.

Harwood-Bellis, 20, previously played under Clarets boss Vincent Kompany at Belgian side Anderlecht.

He has previously had loan spells at Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers.

"I'm buzzing with it. I obviously knew about it for a while, so I'm happy to get it all done, all the medical stuff done, and to get it all sorted," Harwood-Bellis said.

"I feel like this will hopefully be the best season that I'll have in the Championship with all the experience I've got and I'm looking forward to a good season. Hopefully it's one with lots of success."

Technically no fee applies to Egan-Riley's transfer but because of his age City could receive compensation for the youngster.

The Clarets could pay a development fee based on reaching certain criteria, while a sell-on clause has also been included.

"CJ is a player we have been watching closely for a long time," Kompany told the club website.

"He is a promising and talented footballer with an excellent mindset and attitude.

"We are delighted he has agreed to join. CJ has shown a real hunger and he wants to learn and succeed at Burnley. He fits perfectly into our culture and he is a fantastic addition to our squad."
