Congratulations to Daniel Dewsbury, who has been awarded a 9 month placement with BBC Documentaries and Special Features.
Daniel, a researcher, impressed the panel with his documentary idea 'Half-Pipe Dreams', which follows the lives of two young skateboarders and their campaign to become the first British Skaters in the Olympics.

What was on offer?
We were giving five people the rare and exciting opportunity to take part in a session at the Sheffield Doc/Fest for the chance to secure a paid placement with BBC Documentaries and Special Features.
The successful candidate, Daniel Dewsbury, will now spend 9 months working with Executive Producer, Nick Mirsky, Executive Producer 'The Armstrongs', 'Louis Theroux' and 'Wonderland'.
All entries were assessed by Nick Mirsky together with BBC New Talent. They were looking for people with an original approach to documentary making and who had a good eye for a story, who demonstrated a passion for the medium and had the potential to develop.
The five finalists were then interviewed on stage by Nick Mirsky, Executive Producer, Sarah Swingler, Executive Producer, Darlow Smithson Productions Ltd and Angela Wallis, Executive Producer BBC New Talent.
Who could enter?
To enter, we wanted you to fill out an online form where we asked you to submit two documentary ideas, one for BBC Two and the other for any named BBC channel.
Anyone could apply as long as you were 18 years old or over.
If you were a documentary film-maker or researcher who had the talent, this was a great opportunity to gain invaluable and insightful training in researching and storytelling for documentaries and learn from some of the best in the business.
